How Better Photos Grow a Travel Account
Posting more rarely fixes a travel account. Posting photographs people want to keep does, because saving is the signal that travels.
What Gets Saved Gets Shown
A travel photo is saved when someone thinks they might go there. That means the photo has to answer a question they already have, and the caption has to make the place findable again.
A beautiful frame with no place attached is admired and forgotten. A good frame with a real place attached gets kept.
The First Frame Decides
People make the keep or scroll decision in about a second, on the first frame, usually before any text has registered. So the first frame carries everything: the subject, the light and the reason this is different from the ten similar posts they saw today.
Which is another way of saying position and hour again. There is no caption that rescues a flat photograph.
Give People Something They Can Use
The travel accounts that grow fastest are useful, not just pretty. Where exactly this was taken from. What time it works. Which month it looks like this.
You can post that honestly without giving away a coordinate. Say the neighbourhood, the direction and the hour. People save posts they can act on.

Say Where It Was, In Words
Search now reads caption text, so the sentence "photo spots in Lisbon" in your first line does more work than any hashtag. Write the words a person would actually type when they are planning a trip.
Then add the specifics that make it real: the hour, the direction, the month. Nobody searches for a mood, but plenty of people search for a place and a time.
Post Before The Season, Not During It
The audience for a place is planning weeks before they go. A post about a place that peaks in September lands hardest in late August, when people are still deciding.
Every location in Imagecation carries the months it is at its best, which turns a camera roll into a posting calendar.
What To Do This Week
Pick three places you already have photos of. For each one, work out the hour and the month it actually works, and write a first line someone would type into a search bar.
That is three posts that are useful rather than decorative. Useful is what gets saved, and saves are what grow the account.
Imagecation gives you the position, the direction, the hour and the month for every location.
